Description Join us for our Winter Virtual Conference! In this course you’ll learn about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supports for those who have neurological conditions, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and aphasia. This course will explore the importance of efficiency tools, how to help someone maintain their unique personality through their communication, and how to communicate with others even when not face to face. Examples of these considerations will be demonstrated with Tobii Dynavox software including TD Snap Aphasia, Communicator 5, and TD Talk. Learning Outcomes: Identify three considerations for selecting communication supports for adults with aphasia or progressive diagnoses. Describe how efficiency tools support communication for adults with aphasia or progressive diagnoses. List three ways to maintain personal style when using AAC to communicate. Karen Rodgers M.S., CCC-SLP has many years of experience in the rehabilitation setting providing assessment, therapy, and consultation to pediatrics and adults with wide variety of diagnoses and disorders. A primary focus for practice includes the area of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and supporting her patients’ successful communication. Karen is a member of the Tobii Dynavox Learning Services Team where she develops and conducts internal and customer trainings, creates implementation resources, and presents at conferences about AAC topics.
