All About Access: Solutions for Alternative Access and Communication

Description

In this course you will learn about alternative access, what it is, why it matters, and what options exist to support people who use augmentative and alternative communication. You will explore the benefits, challenges, and options related to each access method, including touch, mouse, eye gaze, and switch scanning. Within this course you will also review Tobii Dynavox communication software solutions (TD Snap, Communicator 5, and TD Talk) and how each supports alternative access.

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

Define the term access methods as it applies to AAC.

Describe two access methods and how they support an individual with complex motor challenges.

Explain two benefits of the eye-tracking access method.
