What are the 3 different Taskbar modes and what do they do?

janvier 30, 2019

At the top of the Windows Control Taskbar there is a Track Status viewer. It allows you to verify that the eye tracker recognizes your eyes and that you are well positioned in front of the device. The Task Buttons in the Windows Control Taskbar can be set in three different modes. The Taskbar can be hidden/shown with the F2 key on a regular keyboard (not the Windows Control keyboard).

The three different modes are valid both for the Ordinary Tasks and for the Sticky Tasks.  Safe Click Tasks do not have any Secondary Selection Mode.

  • Normal (Unselected) - No Task Button for Windows Control is chosen.
  • Primary Selection (white) - The marked Task Button is selected and the Task will be executed after the automatic zoom when the user looks at the desired position on the screen or icon on it.  Note: If the selection method is set to Switch in the Windows Control Settings Dialog, the chosen Task Button will still remain active after executing the Task.
  • Secondary Selection (blue/white) - Same as Primary Selection but with a higher precision. Secondary Selection means that the zoom will progress deeper before the final execution of the Task, making the desired portion of the screen bigger and easier to select within.  Activate this mode by resting your gaze on the Task Button until the color changes according to the image below. Please note: this procedure is not valid for the Shortcuts and Settings tasks.
  • Tertiary Selection (popout menu) — For some of the tasks on the Taskbar, there is a popout menu available with the corresponding Sticky Task and Safe Click Task.
Here's how to actually change the taskbar modes:
  1. Rest your gaze on the Task Button to access the Sticky of Safe Click task until the popout menu is activated.
  2. Select the Sticky or Safe Click task to replace the Ordinary task with the Sticky or Safe Click task on the Taskbar.
  3. The Sticky or Safe Click task will stay on the Taskbar and the Ordinary task will be found on the Tertiary Selection.
  4. Repeat the procedure to replace the Sticky or Safe Click task with the Ordinary task on the Taskbar. Note: this procedure is not valid for the Shortcuts and Settings tasks.
